Boat Trailer bearings

I have a Becktons boat trailer for my Arvor and I'm looking to replace the wheel bearings.
I have found out that Beckton trailers Ltd seized trading,  so does anyone know where I can purchase new bearing kits? I have scoured the net but not getting anywhere, I do have a spare bearing kit and the numbers are  LM4851 / LM48549x  on one bearing and L44649 / L44610 on the other.
Any info would be great or has Becktons Ltd started up under another name?

Thanks in advance.

Fuel filter/air lock

Hi, I want to put a new fuel filter and housing on my boat, I was thinking a racor 500fg, would this work or would a smaller one do? or what gallons per hour do I need? Its an Arvor 230 wit cummins qsd

Reason for changing is on my first day out, on return leg home engine suffered an air lock and im not sure is it a tank vent problem or are my new spin on filters not up to the job? I have used fresh clean diesel and boat has been serviced prior to going in the water.

Any help would be great,

Thanks, Charles.

Hello

I own a  2005 Quicksilver 750 weekender , recently I discovered that Arvor and Quicksilver have linkages ( anyone know what that link is?)  and I obtained 2 new WE wiper motors from an Arvor distributor which were exactly right for my boat -which led me to think that maybe someone here would know what material the windscreen is made of because I want to polish out some slight marks made by wiper blades. If you need to see the boat google up MMSI 235055025 its called Blue Topaz and there is a pic there

Muchly appreciate any help with this one.

thanks in advance

Mike

Hello all..

Im a new member & currently own a 230 (which has been a great boat), but am hoping to upgrade to a 250 with a 2.8 QSD engine.

Q 1
In your experience what is the top speed of this boat? as iv come across various different claims of top speeds.

Q 2
Has anyone got any info as to the position of the engine & gearbox dipstick on this set up? as iv recently briefly viewed one & unable to locate.

Q 3
In your experience is there anything i should be looking out for whe looking at this boat/white engine? as to date iv not come across any documented faults.

thanks in advance for any feedback

Props away - Cummins engined 215

$

I have read with great interest the previous Props Away thread from back in 2011, particularly Dave's comments on repitching his prop and the benefits gained. The 2.0ltr Cummins has slightly more power at 115hp and the standard fitment is a 17x21 four blade prop which I think is over pitched. My main interest is slower speed manouvering and fuel economy rather that top speed. I would willingly sacrifice a few knots top end for another litre or two an hour.
I have discussed this with Clements who say that whilst they consider all Arvors to be over pitched, they feel that 17x21 is about right.
Are there any Cummins engine 215 owners out there who have dabbled in repitching and if so what were the results please. I would be grateful for any comments.

Wanted Arvor 20 to 230

Greetings to all,
I am new to this forum a friend (also a member on here) suggested I join as the wealth of experience and knowledge of its members would be invaluable to me in my search to buy an Arvor, someone on here may have one for sale, or know where there is one. I have had various sizes and designs of boat for the last 30 years and having enjoyed several trips in an Arvor I bit the bullet and sold my own boat to purchase the best.

I am looking for an Arvor in the model range of 20 to 230, preferably 100 hp engine with low hours, a complete outfit ready to go, the higher the spec for electronic's and stainless steel fittings etc the better, with road trailer would be a bonus, buying it from someone who has treated it like they would their baby, hopefully not too much to ask for and far more common than looking for rocking horse droppings.

Anything will be considered but I don't want something with problems.

You can contact me via this  forum or 07732586191.

All the best for the coming season, don't forget keep them lines tight.

Hi all,
I have a 2004 250as with a spotless windscreen, no scratches from wipers ect , perfect condition, so I am wondering, is it glass or plastic , I would have thought if it were plastic it would have had some scratches by now, can any members advise.
Also, I wont be able to get down to the boat yet, so to save time , can anyone tell me the location of the engine coolant sender and thermostats.
the engine is the black engine 4.2L 230 CMD.
Thanks in advance,

Buddy.

Hull thickness on a 250as (7mm)

Decided to fit a Raymarine P319 'thru hull' transducer to my brand new 250as yesterday. Boat is on blocks while I fit it out. Wife and I spent at least an hour deliberating on where we should drill the two inch hole. After going down on to the pontoons in our marina and lifting the engine cover of a mate's older 250, we decided that we would follow suit and fit it starboard side as per the instructions and just behind the engine about seven inches from the centre line or transmission tunnel of the boat. Now came the scary bit... making a big hole in one's 70k boat. With trepidation and armed with my trusty Milwaukee 18v battery hand drill, a 2" starrett hole cutter with 5mm arbor and drill bit I went on and cut out the 2" hole.
I was totally gobsmacked to discover that the hull was single skin and only 7mm thick. I was expecting at least an inch or so or some form of foam buoyancy layer or something. On a big boat weighing over two ton and approved for 8 persons offshore, I'd have hoped for a bit better.

Is this the normal standard of modern day boats?

Life raft, yes or no?

$

How many of us boaters have invested in one, is it a 'must have' piece of kit, anybody had any personal experiences where it saved them or do most of us just go out there on a wing and a prayer?

I read with interest Ron Hutchings recent article on here about his bad day out on a mate's catamaran and it's that really plus my recent discovery of the 7mm hull thickness of my new 250as that has prompted my thinking on whether to buy a life raft or not.

I mean, if we ever are in that unenviable situation of seeing the boat fill up with water, do we really have time to mess about reading the instructions on how to launch a life raft, would we ever believe that our situation is so bad as to justify abandoning our pride and joy for a rubber dinghy?

Life rafts are not cheap to buy and when there seem to be so many other essential purchases that take priority, do we feel that a life raft is a 'must have'?

I'd be interested in hearing the views of other boat owning anglers such as myself, in order to help me make my mind up on this one.

Many thanks.

Steve.

Thanks,  Mark
