Hi All,

I am seriously considering parting with my beloved 215as and stepping up to a 280as. I am thinking of doing this such that I have 4 berths to accommodate the family for weekends on the water and to provide better facilities for when I get lashed at the marina and have to crash! Although I have seen 230's and 250's in the flesh I have not seen a 280..I have seen a couple for sale at EBY but don't fancy the drive from Pompey for an initial look. So I was wandering if anyone has one on the south coast that they would be kind enough to let me have a look at to help inform my decision. Also if anyone out there has any info or tips in addition to the posts that are already on the forum that would be really appreciated.

Hi all,
its that time of year again, starting to prepare for the coming season and after the cost and hastle of parts and servicing last year we are going to do it ourselves this year.
My boat is a 2007 250as, black cummins engine with 305hrs on it. It was fully serviced last year including an impeller change and has done less than 50hrs since, my question is what parts should be changed and where can I source them bearing in mind I live on the IOM and always get screwed for postage?

Hi all.
I am new to the forum having bought an Arvor 215AS what I need to know is if I can beach the boat on sand to antifoul her or would this cause damage, I live in Conwy North Wales and it would be good to hear from other Arvor owners in the area to compare notes etc.Thanks.

Hi I'm new to this site so a big hello to everyone ,I'm based in ramsgate kent.I have my heart set on an arvor 230,and have a couple of questions I hope someone could answer for me. Not having seen a 230 in the flesh yet ,how are they at seakeeping,will they take a bit of rough or would u have think about heading back at first sign..having looked through a lot of your posts I get the impression that engine problems crop up quite regularly is this the case having only used trailer boats up till now with outboard I'm completely new to on-board engines any advise would be most apreciated

Good evening all,
Last month my 230AS broke its moorings when a freak wave broke through the pier wall . She was washed up onto rocks and has been severely  damaged. The hull is cracked  along the sked , there are plenty of scraps and she has a major hole under the water line at he bow.
The sea water got in around the engine ( vw 150 5 cyl ) and even into the electric control panel mounted on the side of the engine.
To cut a long story short  I got her lifted and onto dry land ,  removed the glow plugs and cranked the engine by hand. There was water inside and I kept cranking her until all the water was removed. I removed the electronic controller and removed the water from inside . Took it apart , relays cables and PCB board . I cleaned all and dried out. I sprayed the outside of the engine with wd40 .
I have reassembled everything and have put back in place. I have connected up new battery .

When I turn on ignition key the alarm is sounding and I can not clear this. The screen is in default . It won't allow me to start the engine. I have tried resetting the e stop and removed all control relays but the alarm is still on .


My questions are

Does anybody have electrical control drawings for this engine?
I need to get the engine started and has anybody ever by passed the controls to get the engine started?
I need to see if the engine is ok so I estimate if repairing the Boat is viable.

My Insurance company won't cover me as they say the boat was not moored at an approved marina.

So a little advice to  is check out the small print   on your Insurance policy.

Hoping some one can help me.

250 impeller replacement

Hi All,

I have a 250 with the 4.2 black engine and am just about to give it a service but can't seem to work out how the hell your supposed to get to the sea water pump to change the impeller.

Has any one has managed this task without need for special bendy arms and X-ray vision! any no how and tips would be much appreciated?.

Seeing the weather is worst ive know it running out of things to do and polish managed to go for a run up the crouch on sunday .Iwant to fit a winch ive a 1995 215 non as very limited where to put one has anybody fitted one if so where did you fit it looking at a capstan only need it to pull the rope up the chain i can pull by hand was wondering if i put it on the gunnels and put rollers on for the rope any suggestions alan

Hi all I've just got my 25 out for annual clean up, I' noticed last year the propeller nut was quite de-zinced and the slot which the anode locates has worn to nothing so to cut a long story short I need a new one! Has anyone replaced there's? I know I can send it away but thought it might be quicker if it was a stocked item somewhere that I can order??? Cheers milo

I would like to fit a extra anode to my 215 as the prop anodes donot seem to last very long at .present I have hung a 3kg anode over the back of the boat
Would anyone know if I can put the anode in the well for the aquarium pump would it still work

250as shaft anode. [1 for Dkstenson].

Hi Dave,

If I remember correctly , you once said you fitted a carbon brush to the shaft on your previous boat, did you take the wire to the transom anode, and did it work, did it effect the prop anode in any way
Will you be fitting one to your new 250 , lovely looking boat by the way, I think they have got it right  that's for sure , best boat I have owned in the last 40 years

Hi thinking of fitting an auto pilot to my 215 can anyone  tell me the best place  to break into the two hydraulic pipes from the steering to connect to the pump.

I know this is a re hash of many other threads..
But does anyone want to share up to date details of what they have done to their props on the 215 with a vw engine?
Mine still has the original heavy hung shen? I was thinking of contacting Clements to possibly resize?
With a clean bottom and no tide she'll do 20/ 21 knots but it does feel like it's screaming at 3400.
I was looking for smoother running and possibly lower revs for the speed? I know some people seem to have acomplished this.
I was out on the water today and just managed 18 knots..
Time to get her out of the water and give her some love!

I am currently working on deeper supplies for bulk buying for  QSD and Black Engine  Mercruiser parts ,
Does anybody know the part number for engine anodes FOR THE BLACK ENGINE  4.2 , genuine , zinc smart , or other ? and also brass plug number ??

Any help appreciated

Hi all just wondering has anyone bought a flexi hose kit for there Mercruiser d4.2 ? I have found them which I can buy seperatly from hbm Mercruiser but works out expensive?? I used to have a Perkins engine in my old boat and bought a complete hose kit for it and wondered if anyone on here has managed to find a supplier that does a kit for the d4.2 Mercruiser??? Any thoughts would be great??? Cheers milo

hi guys..just had my cummins 215 out for antifoul and propspeed on rudder and prop.....all running perfectly and vibration free ..speed and fuel usage perfect ..one small problem ..have a melodic... tsk tsk ...singing coming in at 2500 revs and only in that small range ...does any one have experience of this ...rgds DAL

help needed ive had my eber now just over  a year but recently noticed a differance when first installed it was hot but now its like its alot cooler air coming out ive put two 4 litre cans of paraffin to see if there would be any change but no still warm air any ideals on this would be great many thanks tony.
