AQUA ALARMS PLEASE READ !!!

$

Cut to the chase here guys , I can see that many of you have issues with the supply of Aqua alarms with the new paddle technology and new models have built in barbs ( brand new even my last batch did not have that )
I am considering purchasing direct from the USA a quantity of Alarms  obviously with my importation costs etc these are likely to be the £85 mark plus p&p
currently out of stock myself as Dave had my last one
Straight forward question how many buyers would I have ?
Don't mind helping if demand is there
Dave will agree I offer a good service

Engine Anodes For Mercury QSD Engines.

$

Boatzincs.com sell the brass nuts, plus the copper washers, plus the anodes for $12.74
They also sell the individual zincs for just $3.90

I know... amazing when you consider same is about £40 from chandlers in uk.

The "Only" downside is the postage. Its going to cost somewhere in the region of $60

I am going to order new spare brass bolts plus 20 zincs for myself, so this still works out to be about £7 each.
If there are others who want these parts, then if they let me know then I will add them to my order which will still work out at quite a saving.

I will likely be ordering towards the end of next week.

Cheers

Hi guys,
Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me.  I find that I can't log on to the Arvor boatowners site when using google on the microsoft browser. It tells me that a cookie has not been set.
However, I can log on straight away, if I go in through the firefox browser. Just thought Id mention it to our arvorboatowners site administrator.

215 Twin Battery Set Up

Anyone fitted a second battery on a non AS 215? if so where did you locate the second battery. There appears to be no room in the engine bay because of fuel tank, shaft seal and transducer.

I have thought of putting one in the starboard locker but that does not seem ideal.

Safety Issue with sliding door?

$

0

I ventured out 5.30am. at 7am (still dark) I had made it some 15 miles out.
The weather however really turned against us and we were being chucked about like a coke tin.
Before turning to head back in a toilet break was in order, so I went to get the bucket.
The door would NOT OPEN...
It had jumped off its roller and wedged solid. Dark, worsening sea, tossed about like a coke tin 12 miles from shore.
Locked in the cabin.
I tried every which way I could to free it, even laying down on the bench seat and trying for the break, by attempting to kick it down.
I eventually found a screwdriver and removed the top rollers and managed to kick the door out onto the deck.

This is a major safety concern..
It really is not acceptable. Its a catastrophe waiting to happen.

I have relayed the events to EBY and asked that they notify Arvor immediatley.
I dont know if anyone has ever reported this issue previously to EBY?
But I would ask that if you have a door that jumps off its rollers, then please please please, do not assume it will always be a case of it doing so when the door is open, and it will always be easy to lift back on.

The events unnerved me, and reduced my partner to tears.

Cheers

Berthing In Gosport Area. (Portsmouth)

$

Gents,

A few of us have been in dialogue with Premier Marina in Gosport.
And they have come up with a "Special" deal for us Arvor owners.

As with all marinas and berth one needs to make sure its what they want, so I want to make it perfectly clear, the ONLY reason I am mentioning this is because it benefits ALL owners that take up their offer and in no way shape or form am I benefitting from this other than the same discounts as WE ALL recieve.
(Phew..... Now that bits out of the way)  big_smile

The primary reason for approaching Premier was because they are the marina where fuel is available from.
And when you become a Premier berth holder you get a Fuel card which allows you to access fuel 24/7 365 days a year.
Also as a Premier berth holder you get your fuel at cost.
There are of course standard marina benefits (As with all marinas)
And some of these include but not restricted to.
42 days berthing at any other Premier Marina.
Minimum 8 weeks free storage ashore
15% off lift and wash and launch services
Three free boat movements per annum
Fuel Valet service
20% Discount on Premier Boat Insurance

And of course many others.

The marina benefits from secure car parking (2 dedicated car passes per berth holder)
Has onsite a Cafe / Bar

The Marina at present has a limited amount of free spaces and they are filling up quite fast.
(4 of us signed up today) with a possible further 4 this week.

The intention is, to try and group us all together, but this may / may not be possible.
In either event, we will be split between 2 berthing pontoons maximum.

If anyone is interested then if they drop me a quick line, I can pass your details onto the marina, and / or show you around if required.

This exercise has shown that by acting as a group, then deals which benefit us can be worked out.
Our next one is to approach Sealift and see if we can negotiate club rates there.  big_smile  (Watch this space)

Cheers

Switches... (No Bilge Pump for 2 months)

2 Months ago the automatic bilge pump switch broke.. (Actually fell apart)

Luckily EBY were on the case and I was promised one in a week. This then turrned to 2 weeks, this then became 3 weeks before xmas..
Today I got my replacement switch..
A totally completely 100% different switch (Even though I supplied photos), and taken from another boat (No problen with that as long as it worked) but it wouldnt work anyway as it i a toggle switch and its broken.!!!!!

I consider it just as well I fitted another automatic bilge pump myself, (Remember the automatic one fitted by Arvor, wasnt actually automatic as they wired it in wrongly and it was switched)

London Boat Show

Hi Guys.
Did anyone go to the show and if so what did you think of it?

I didn't manage to get there, which is a shame as I was wondering what EBY had on display and was hoping to have a chat with them. Unfortunately something important came up and I wasn't able to get there.

I like the new light blue colours of the range of Arvors since Quicksilver became involved. What is Quicksilver's role in the product does anybody know?

I see that a new 250as is just below 70k on the EBY website. That's a lot of money for what it offers as a angling boat and you only get basic Lowrance (non-radar overlay capability) electronics, which means you've got to upgrade or buy additional electronics to have radar. Shocking really.

215 prop..

I know this is a re hash of many other threads..
But does anyone want to share up to date details of what they have done to their props on the 215 with a vw engine?
Mine still has the original heavy hung shen? I was thinking of contacting Clements to possibly resize?
With a clean bottom and no tide she'll do 20/ 21 knots but it does feel like it's screaming at 3400.
I was looking for smoother running and possibly lower revs for the speed? I know some people seem to have acomplished this.
I was out on the water today and just managed 18 knots..
Time to get her out of the water and give her some love!

Hi all, just made the jump from a 215as to a 250as 2011. Can anyone be kind enough to give me a heads up on what to keep an eye on. I kept an eye on oil & coolant levels, cleaned out water filter now and again had it serviced by the ever trustworthy Stuart Monk and everything was fine.
Thanks in advance  big_smile  Mo

2007 230 with good old TDI150-5 VW HAS A WOBBLE AT AROUND 2000RPM TO BE DESCRIBED AS A OUT OF BALANCE CAR WHEEL FEELING , BOAT GOES THROUGH THIS SMOOTHLY UP TO 4000RPM .
GOT MY DAD TO TAKE HELM WHILST BOAT DOING IT , I LIFTED HATCH TO FIND ENGINE, GEARBOX AND SHAFT ALL WOBBLING .
BOAT HAS HAD A PROP RE PITCH , NEW CUTLASS BEARING , NEW SHAFT COUPLING ALL BY PREVIOUS OWNER .
MY THOUGHS ARE :
ENGINE MOUNT FAULT
BENT SHAFT
GEARBOX FAULT
PROP RE PITCH ERROR
ENGINE ALIGNMENT ( NOT SURE HOW THIS SHOWS UP )

100% THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ALTHOUGH INTERESTINGLY A MATE WITH SAME BOAT / YEAR HAS THE SAME THING GOING ON WITHOUT ANY PROP WORK BEING DONE ?
ANY THOUGHTS ON A FIX / HOW TO CHECK ?
