can you please give a newbee some advice will the out board bracket on the 215as cope with a mercury 8 permanantly fitted as a auxillary im being told its only suitable for a 6 the 6 weighs 26kg the 8 weighs 38 kg

ARVOR Weekender
Hello to all. I am a new member to this forum having recently purchased a new ARVOR 23 Weekender. I have admired the Arvors for some time but wanted a boat that was more suited to family use and spending up to a week at a time on our beautiful Moreton Bay here in Qld Australia. The weekender fits the bill for us and both my wife and I love the boat.
After having a yacht previously for a number of years berthed at a marina, we chose to store our boat on a trailer at home and trail to water when needed.
Are there any other Weekender owners out there?
I have enjoyed reading your forum on regular basis for some time now and appreciate all the tips....thanks to all.

screen demister
Has anyone a solution to the problem of the screen misting up internally? At this time of year I find travelling up river, to marina, after dusk is made awkward by the frequency at which the screen mists up.

Guys, has anyone any idea why they have now taken the Arvor logos from the side of the new blue hull boats and put a Quicksilver name at the rear ??

Viewing gps/fishfinder from the cockpit.
Has anyone given any thought to how you could view the plotter and fishfinder from the cockpit?
I have standard fitment electronics on my 215, I was thinking of some kind of repeater flip down screen?
Keep meaning to ask JG electronics who is local, but in the meantime if anyone has any bright ideas...

VW Turbo Support, Use, and Servicing.
Its long been a concern for new buyers and owners alike about what is documented as the "Turbo Issue".
Over the years we as members have benefited hugely from our very own guru "Martin" and more lately "Stuartarvor215" who is able to service and clean Turbos at a fraction of the renewal cost.
Within the "Members" section there is also the detailed VW Endorsed and Released "Service Schedule" which details the use of WD40 and Chesterton 785 Graphite release spray in the service regime.
VW, then Cummins and most lately E.P.Barrus have honoured replacing sticking turbos on a free of charge replacement basis. Even on boats in excess of 5 - 6 years old. Lately I have been contacted by an owner who was informed repalcements were no longer being issued free of charge.
I contacted Jonathan at E.P.Barrus as he has been the point of contact throughout, and this is was the response.

At the end of July Brunswick Marine informed me that they had brought the good
will turbo replacement scheme to an end.
Unfortunately, this is beyond my control and I apologise.
I can only recommend that owners use red or white diesel that meets BS EN 590,
and use their boat as often as possible.

I have personally thanked Jonathan for his support, and whilst it would have been nice if replacements had carried on for ever, I think we all knew it would end one day.
I think the situation going forward should be..
Use the boats and use them regularly.
Do not run them on the mooring for extended periods of time (Just to top the batteries up)
If the boat is likely to be left for periods of extended non use (2 months and longer), then perform the Chesterton service.

Arvor 215as Cutless Bearing
Hi all,
I gave a friend of mine a hand in removing the prop from his Arvor 215as. Once the prop was removed we noticed that the cutless bearing had moved approx. 5mm out from the end of the prop. shaft tube, is this normal? or should it be flush with the end of the prop. shaft tube?
(There is no movement on the prop shaft)

Vetus Bow Thruster Anodes
Getting together a kit of anodes for the impending lift, scrub and anode service amd have the Vetus 25 kgf Bow thruster.
I know and understand there is a bit of maching that goes into producing an anode, but at a few pence short of £30 I kind of feel the proverbial P is being taken. (or am I just tight?)
Anyway, anyone know of a cheaper option of obtaining these anodes?

Chart apps
Just got a tablet as a pressy and want to download a chart and use it as a second navigation device. Can anyone recommend the best charts to go for . I have been told that some don't need any additional bits and are ready to go.
