Prop identification and points of view??

Good evening all.
I wondered if anyone might be able to help me with identifying this prop on an arvor 215.
It appears to be marked with the following..
NG 40089RK
2007.02.28
any ideas? Is this the original prop or one that has been perhaps worked on?
She was out of the water this evening to be cleaned before a proper sea trial in the morning. Hoping that knocking off all the barnacles  from the prop and rudder will gain her an extra 8 knots or so....!

Greetings from Costa Brava (and a pair of questions)

Good morning:

After several months of searching, I bought in June a second hand (2008) Arvor 215 AS which have been 3 weeks on dry for a complete revision and servicing. During this time I took the occasion to do some slight changes to adapt the boat at our needs because our sea is quite different of that one surrounding UK. I’m writing from Estartit, a little spot in the center of the Costa Brava (Spain). The changes I talked were just for make the cockpit more “habitable” because the 80% of the time we will stay there and the first (and only condition) of my wife was she wanted a place to sunbathing in summertime. Then, off season, the boat could recover his original condition.

As this kind of boat isn’t a top seller in our country, I had several doubts that the former owner (a swede retired in Marbella) can’t explain me.

A week ago I put the 215 AS on water. First issue (don’t panic): the engine would not start. A quick glance showed that the Stop button on the engine (a 100 HP Volkswagen) was pressed. Second issue: the hydraulic rudder does’nt work at all: a fast reversing for stop the boat and then, remembering about emergency rudder I found the valve in wrong position. Solved the beginner problems, after 30 minutes, my 215 AS and me were “amigos para siempre” (friends for life). Besides, the bow thruster help a lot in this mutual knowledge. This is my first inboard but, in my wife’s family there was a large tradition of professional fisherman’s with this kind of engine (in old wooden boats).

I made small modifications in the boat during the month it has been in dry: Just 30 seconds to move from one situation (sunbathing) to another (fishing). Also I cut out the curved piece of the gate which difficult the way out of the cabin, moving the passenger seat to another position easily retractable. Just adding a real size ladder on swim platform and the boat was ready to ram (irony on) the huge waves of the Mediterranean Sea.

In our marina, in Estartit, we are limited by the length (max. 7 meters). But the most important is the beam that cannot exceed 2,5 m. Any boat over 2,50 meters will be trimmed. So, you can imagine that the people try to find the maximum size without being trimmed: Arvor 215 is exactly within these measures (fortunately). Other boats are French brand like Jeanneau, Benneteau, and Spanish models like Artaban, Playamar, Sabor, Shiren, and so on.

And going to my questions: first one is, fishing anchored, engine switch off, I heard a noise exactly under starboard bench. Somebody told me (I confirmed later) that this noise, very similar to a rattle fishing reel, was the digital sounder module under the keel (transducer) of the 1 KW Raymarine display (the former owner used to fish near Gibraltar at very deep seas). With this noise is almost impossible to fish at all (however I fished some small pieces). So, the solution is to switch off the system while moored or disabled the transducer on the screen menu. Found the solution, any comments about whether this noise is normal?

The second and last question (by now) concerns the trolling valve. The former proprietary did never use it and, trying myself, I found the same speed (eg at 800 rpm) either locking or unlocking the valve knob. The minimum speed never drops 3 knots. Should be possible that this valve has been blocked after 5 years unused?.

Sorry for the long speech but perhaps should be interesting for someone to have news from another seas and another ways of enjoy our floating hobby. Congratulations for the forum; it’s very helpful for Arvor users of any condition.

Best regards

Rexus

Hi All,
I have an Arvor 215 which has the live bait tank in the stern, unfortunately the pump to this does not work, can anybody tell me where the pump is and how to get to it.
I think it may be an electrical fault but would like to check the whole system out.

Good morning.
I'm in the process of tidying up my new (to me) 215 and have noticed the scuppers no longer have flaps covering them..
Has anyone had the pleasue of trying to source these?
The rest of the work is going well and she's cleaning up a treat, got a large parcel of goodies arriving from Stuart today so all the serviceable parts will be replaced and hoping to get her back in the water at the beginning of next week.

Simple really..
Has anyone come across a cheaper alternative to the K&N filters on the VW 100hp lump?
I would just clean it but the neck is cracked and hardened so ideally it needs replacing.

215 vibration

Hi,
I have just bought a 2012 model Arvor 215 with the qsd 2.0 cummins engine with 7 hours on the clock
the engine runs nice but light vibration is felt when in gear from tick over at 7000 revs and then steadily gets worse up to 1100 revs when the engine is literally shaking on its mountings but from there on right up to 32000 it is nice and smooth.
Has anyone with this comparatively new engine had any similar experiences
In addition to this when I engage forward or reverse it really clunks into gear is this a generic thing or is something wrong?

Any feedback would be appreciated

Hi,
Does anyone have  the wiring diagram for an Arvor 215, I have found a red cable numbered 15 (which I think was the feed for the bait tank pump)?
This had been cut and taped up, I can not find where this cable is fed from?

Can anyone help ? smile
I already have the wiring diagram for a 215 AS but this does not show it.

Cheers big_smile

I have a navman chart plotter/ sounder the big one 8120 I think , it won't acquire satellites now. Is the problem likely to be the button receiver on the roof or the unit itself and where do you go for parts and service?
Thanks, steve

Tsunami 500 pump

Can any of you experts out there please help?
I have a 2011 230as in which the bilge pump has failed. Was working fine then no output/ sound from pump at all.
The switch on the cabin panel still lights up when depressed. Does this mean that the circuit/fuse is still intact or could it still be an in line fuse? If so, where would I find it?
The pump is of course really conveniently located under the shaft and stern gland!

Electrics are not my strongest point so any simple advice appreciated
Thanks
Chris

Help- finding water leak in 250.

$

This little problem has now go me to a stage whereby I am having nightmares about it... roll

Fresh water finding its way into bilge...

From behind the stern tube the rear (Battery) compartment... Dry as a bone... I have climbed under and checked every piece of the hull inside and its bone dry...
This was after I had sealed myself the scupper tubes, and the inspection hatch and the rod holder which previously emptied water straight into the bilge..

The main engine bay... Again, the bay is freshly painted and any signs at all of water running down the sides to the bilge itself would be evident.. It is bone dry, this was after I had sealed myself the side draining points from inner hull to outer hull. No water signs at all insie the locker to the side, nor the under deck compartments, nor along the stringers... In fact 100% happy that no water at all is entering from rear of cabin to bathing platform..

Inside.... Have removed the front cover under seat and checked where bow thruster motor is... First time I checked this there was fresh water in there... This could quite easily have been overflow from engine bilge... Dried this out and checked sides of hull... The sides are all covered in dust and again no signs whatsoever of water ingress..

Climbed into locker under the floor (Under seats(, removed both side panels... Again, no signs of water at all and dust up the sides so water running would be evident.

That as far as I am aware only leaves an act of god... So, as I dont know the guy or have ever had dealings with him, he is unlikely to answer my when I say "O God, where the f**k is this coming from"...

Anyone here any ideas?

The bilge stays as dry as a dry thing all day long.... I get in, I wash down, i check bilge and there is water... I can drink it so its fresh... It tastes of soap suds, so I know its mine... where.... I have spent 3 weeks now trying to find this and I would be so bold as to say there is no way it can enter.. But it does.!!!!!

Anyone??? It will stop me going mad......  big_smile

Cheers

Dave

PS: After a "normal" washdown, wash with soap, then a good hosedown, there is about a litre of water....
