Odd battery problem

Hi just installed a new battery however when I turn all the electrics on no fuel gauges
Work etc however the engine turns over within 2 seconds and when alternator turns on everything works no problem even after turning engine off for a time.. I'm wondering if anyone knows where the problem might be? Thanks in advance
